Developing Culturally Sensitive Organizations

Culturally proficient professionals, including those who raise
funds, make it their responsibility to be aware of, respect, and
communicate across cultural and subcultural lines. The savvy
professional will realize that we need to broaden the definition
of philanthropy to include traditions, preferences and ways of
giving by diverse populations and not attempt to function under
the comfortable “one size fits all” mentality. To ignore or remain
unaware of the rich and varied giving traditions by the many
populations groups in the U.S. is not only unwise but leaves
our fundraising practice and, therefore, organizational outreach,
incomplete and unbalanced.

Understanding Personality Differences in Giving and Asking

We tend to view our world from our own perspectives, but when it comes
to communications and fundraising, we need to be aware of personality
differences and preferences for maximum results. This session will help
you learn how to "speed read" personality traits and therefore adjust our
communication according to those differences.
